Communicating with Confidence: Navigating Conversations & Feedback with Care

Clear and compassionate communication is the foundation of strong, trusting relationships - whether with family, friends, youth, or colleagues. Yet, expressing our needs and receiving feedback can be challenging, especially when emotions run high. This interactive workshop will equip Voice Male members with the skills to navigate conversations with confidence, move through conflict with compassion and emotional regulation, and strengthen relationships through thoughtful communication.

In this workshop, participants will:

✅ Learn how to communicate their needs in a way that reduces miscommunication and invites understanding.
✅ Strengthen active listening and empathy skills to navigate conflict more effectively.
✅ Practice giving and receiving feedback with grace and care, fostering trust.
✅ Develop emotional regulation techniques using nonviolent communication strategies.

Facilitator:

Ben Castro (he/they) – Registered Clinical Counsellor specializing in anger management, codependence, processing trauma, addressing men’s concerns, addiction recovery, and coping with grief. Ben brings extensive experience from diverse professional environments, including anti-oppressive practices, a maximum-security psychiatric hospital, and the Downtown Eastside. He works predominantly with men, seeing their well-being as a key to the well-being of our communities. Ben finds that all men and all their emotions are worthy of being met with dignity, respect, and hope.
