Thoughtfully Designed Card Decks

These cards are for the young people in your life—the boys who look up to you in the classroom, the youth in need of a mentor, the teens who benefit from exploring themselves and their worlds.

When they are given an opportunity to be vulnerable and share meaningfully with each other, they rise to the occasion. But someone has to hold that space for them.

That’s why we’ve designed two card decks for boys to explore their hearts, their beliefs and the cultural norms they experience every day.

We’re putting the tools in your hands.

Boys Will Be _ features a collection of 42 affirmations, along with eight prompts for journalling or reflection. This deck is a way for parents and educators affirm the ways that boys embrace and express their whole selves.

Cards For Masculinity offers 50 bold questions from five categories to facilitate meaningful discussions about boys’ beliefs and behaviours. Topics include objectification and hook-up culture, but these cards are for everyone.

FAQ

Looking for more ideas on how to use these decks? Want to ask some questions before you buy one? Get in touch and let us know how we can help. In the meantime, here are some questions that might be on your mind.

Do you have to be an expert to use the decks?

We intentionally designed the questions to not require any prior knowledge. They are open-ended and focused on the perspectives of the participants, so anyone from a beginning teacher to a pair of boys themselves could use these decks effectively.

What age is the deck for?

We wrote the decks with young adolescent boys in mind, but there really isn’t an age limit. A few of the questions in Cards For Masculinity touch on topics like hooking up and objectification, so they work best for teens and older, but by and large the card decks are relatable for any age.

Would the deck work with other genders?

The questions and affirmations are specifically chosen for and written from the perspective of youth who identify as male and nonbinary. That being said, there’s no reason you can’t use the deck to engage young people of different genders. Maybe not every single question will relate in the same way, but they will still create space for thoughtful discussion and peer-led learning.

Is it possible to get a bulk discount?

For sure. We love the idea of the card decks being available in a school library or used in a community sports league.

Do you ship internationally?

We’ve shipped these cards all around the world.
